May 28, 2021, the Curacao Boxing Association CuraBox held the annual General Members Meeting. It was held in the conference room of Federashon Deporte i Olímpiko Kòrsou (FDOK).
This meeting was originally scheduled two months earlier, but was postponed due to the lockdown by COVID-19.
During the review and annual report of 2020 it appeared that despite the pandemic, CuraBox was still active with various COVID-proof activities, such as; a Power Punch Challenge, several practice bouts and competitions, virtual seminars and online classes for referees, judges, trainers and coaches.
The financial committee granted discharge on the annual financial report.
Because it is going well with regard to the number of COVID infections, the board is optimistic for the second half of 2021. Of course, caution remains important and current measures will be taken into account during the activities.
The first local competitions are scheduled for June 27, international competitions on October 2 and the plan is also to go abroad to participate in competitions, including the Dutch Championships on October 30 and 31 and the Caribbean championships in December.
In addition to competitions, there will be several activities, including official box exams.
Dr. Krishnadath has stepped down as a board member, however, due to his merits as a board member since 2009, he has been appointed as an honorary member of CuraBox.
The board continues with; Edwin Baas as president, Andy Frans as vice- president, Sem Klein as treasurer, Erwin Kleiboer as secretary and Huibertico Balentien as commissioner.
Grego Scharbaai from Baas Sports Curaçao will box the main event at Victorious Fighters on September 11 2021. More info coming soon
