Raekwon Baas

If you follow the media, you will undoubtedly have noticed that Raekwon Baas is doing very well in boxing.

Raekwon Mo-A-Lee Baas was born and raised in Curaçao from a Surinamese mother, Palmira Baas-Sandvliet, and a Dutch father, Edwin Baas, of Baas Sports Curaçao.

Raekwon left for the Netherlands to study. Besides studying, he went with a goal, “The Road to LA”, to participate in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

In the Netherlands he first trained at Hannes Schneider’s New Sport Challenge (NSC) in Haarlem. May 2023 he made his Dutch debut with a victory at “Battle of The Best” and June 2023 he became North Netherlands Champion.

August 2023 during the semi-final of the Curacao championship, his arm dislocated from the shoulder socket. Despite that, Raekwon won unanimously on points and qualified for the final, but this final had to start injured.

6 months later Raekwon, who had moved to Rotterdam in the meantime, returned to the ring.
Training at Rodney Ernst’s FitBoyz 01., Raekwon was again very successful. January 2024 he became Open South Netherlands Champion, April 2024 South Netherlands Champion and May 2024 he won at the international Portimão Box Cup in Portugal.

Despite the good results, the shoulder continued to dislocate regularly. For this reason surgery was necessary.
Raekwon expects to return to the ring in October 2025 and continue working towards realizing his dream.

Raekwon Baas is certified as a boxing trainer and is known to be good at transferring his knowledge, skills and experience to others. For both competition and conditioning.
